Sustainable From The Inside Out

Manufactured in BMW's most sustainable auto plant, the BMW i3 production process uses 50% less energy and 70% less water — and that's just the beginning. The interior uses cutting-edge architecture and over 25% of renewable and recycled materials. Up to four passengers can enjoy its spaciousness—equivalent to the BMW 3 Series. Plus, the LifeDrive architecture allows for the B-pillar and center console to be removed, creating even more openness.

The latest BMW i3 has a 114 mile range on a full charge—that's 40% farther than the first generation i3. And with the Range Extender, your total driving range is up to 180 miles. This vehicle's gas-powered, two-cylinder engine generates electricity to maintain the charge of the lithium-ion battery at an approximate 5% level.

Smart Mobile Integration

To make every journey an efficient one, you can use the integrated BMW i Remote app to sync your BMW i3 to your smartphone, Apple Watch, Samsung Galaxy Gear Watch and other mobile devices. When connected, you'll be able to check your battery's state of charge, configure automatic charging times, set a comfortable cabin temperature through preconditioning, and even sync destinations, all before getting behind the wheel.

Life Module

Use of high-strength, lightweight CFRP has allowed BMW to rethink the passenger compartment. With no pillar needed between its doors and no transmission tunnel because of the Drive Module below, the BMW i3’s cabin provides an incredibly spacious experience, while retaining a high level of safety for all occupants.

Drive Module

The aluminum Drive Module cleverly integrates the BMW i3’s lithium-ion battery between front and rear axles, creating near-perfect 50:50 weight distribution and a low center of gravity for improved stability while cornering. Integrating the battery this way not only allows for agile performance, it frees up considerable space in the cabin above.

Stay Charged

The BMW i3 can be fully recharged in just 4.5 hours using a Level 2 charging station. Get up to an 80% charge in approximately 30-40 minutes with a DC Combo Fast Charger. At home, drivers can install a home charging station through the BMW Installation Services program. On the go, use the ChargeNow Card that comes with your vehicle to access more than 28,000+ U.S. charging stations in the ChargePoint Network, including a growing number of DC Combo Fast Chargers.
